There were two places on our Washington DC trip that brought tears to my eyes and that was at the Jefferson Memorial and when I saw the Constitution.

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common, defense, promote the general, Welfare and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posperity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The National Archives Building also exhibits other important American historical documents such as the Louisiana Purchase and the Emancipation Proclamation as well as collections of photography and other historically and culturally significant American artifacts.

Magna Carta, 1297: Widely viewed as one of the most important legal documents in the history of democracy. On display in the West Rotunda Gallery at the National Archives.
